Marne (pronounced: “Marnie”) is a Licensed Professional Counselor and AASECT Certified Sex Therapist. She is the President and Co-Founder of Denver Sexual Medicine Alliance. Although she has worked with a variety of behavioral health issues over the past 20 years, her passion has always been for sexual health and relationship intimacy. She has trained in multiple models of sexual intimacy enhancement and enjoys working with both women and men. Marne provides a safe, professional environment for clients to explore the sensitive topic of sexuality. She also works closely with physicians and physical therapists in an integrative team approach to ensure the client receives the best care possible.
Marne’s background includes a masters degree from the University of Colorado at Denver’s counseling/psychology program, an internship and subsequent employment in the Employee Assistance Program at Lockheed-Martin Astronautics, teaching graduate and post-graduate therapists at Denver Family Institute, supervising other therapists working toward sex therapy certification, and consulting with other professionals in the field.
Professional Affiliations:
- American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors and Therapists
- American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists
- International Society for Study of Women’s Sexual Health
- Facilitator The PREP® (Prevention and Relationship Enhancement Program)
- Facilitator Love & Logic Parenting Program
Marne uses cognitive behavioral and differentiation approaches to therapy. Looking through five “lenses” at all times, Marne focuses on the medical/biological aspects of sexual health, adult sex education (something we rarely get growing up), creating (and holding onto) clear thoughts and pictures of therapy goals, anxiety modulation (learning to live with awkwardness initially so you can move past your anxieties), having a clear sense of self (where the libido lives), and learning how to set (and let go of) boundaries in relationships and create the best you, and the best relationship, possible.
Marne has been married to her second husband for 35 years, is a mother of two grown sons, step-mother of two, and grandmother of many, none of whom wish to hear her speak about sex. However, Marne is available to speak to groups about Sexual Health.
If you’d like to schedule an appointment with Marne at her Denver or Westminster office, please call her at (720) 234-9058 or email her atmwine@btid.com.
